Artist Profile I am interested in architecture, commercial and retail signage. For some reason the old buildings in the Newcastle city centre seem to attract me. I'm not sure why, maybe its because many of them seem to be neglected, which is such a shame because the quality of the structures are far higher than the plasterboard boxes that are knocked up nowadays.
I want to raise awareness of the beauty of these old buildings, which give character and identity to our city centres. They are a far cry from the blandness of our new shopping malls and out of town retail and business parks.

Our new shopping centres are very popular for convenient shopping, but each complex is just like the next. You could be in any town or city anywhere in the country, if not the world!

I feel that by taking some of these old buildings as my inspiration I can hopefully create some successful images.

I very rearly use a sketch book. I nearly always look for my images with a camera. Its just what I do. Over the next few weeks I shall be uploading some photographic images onto my website.

I think Art should be in the community. I now make it a policy of mine to display my art in public places, hospitals, libraries, restaurants, pubs, in fact any public or community space.

I worked as a Display Designer for over 25 years, but recently I have began a new job helping people to choose furniture for their homes

I compleated a degree in Arts and Design at Sunderland University, in June of 2002
