The above paintings are on permanent display in the main entrance of the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Monument Area in Newcastle is at the centre of the city in the heart of John Dobson's Grainger Town development.
The three structures featured above are:-
The Central Exchange Buildings, designed probably by John Wardle, built by
Richard Grainger in 1837.
Greys Monument, built in 1837-38, designed (according to my info.) by Benjamin
Green with statue by Baily. A roman doric column 41 metres high on a tall
pedistal.
The Emersons Chambers, an outstanding example of art nouveau. Built in 1904,
designed by B F Simpson, as a restaurant shops and offices. It is now offices
and Dillons Bookshop.
